Types Of Patio Enclosures Or Porch Enclosures

Screen Room Enclosure

Looking to take your existing patio or porch to the next level? Consider enclosing the space to create a screen room. Screen rooms allow you to enjoy the gentle breeze of spring or crisp fall days without pesky bugs and the glaring sun.

Want fresh air? Our nearly invisible black aluminum screens enclose this room to give you maximum visibility. Enjoy flowing air and protection from bugs. Screen enclosures are perfect for balconies, porches and multi-floor buildings, townhouses and condominiums. Our screen system is fully convertible to single pane or fully insulated glass. The glass can be added later for extended seasonal or year round use.

Three Season Sunroom Enclosure

This is our most popular sunroom type. Enjoy these rooms from spring through fall or longer depending on your geographical location. Three season sunrooms take screen rooms next level by enclosing your porch or patio with glass and screens. Having a glass system that slides open to screens is ideal for keeping your enclosed porch and furniture clean from pollen, rain and wind.

Constructed with a durable aluminum frames, this room is a classic in quality and workmanship. Depending on your planned use of the room, three season sunrooms are available with single-pane glass or double-pane insulated glass. Your design consultant will be able to recommend the construction elements right for your needs.

Unlike the all-season sunrooms and solariums, three season sunrooms are not designed to be heated or cooled on an ongoing basis. For chilly winter days, a portable heating unit can keep the space warm and comfortable. A ceiling fan can help cool a three season sunroom on more humid days.

Year Round Sunroom Enclosure

With framed-in glass, we can convert your porch or patio into a year round sunroom. You can use these sunrooms all year round, no matter where you live. You will be free to enjoy the outdoors without worrying about pollen, inclement weather or insects. For ultimate climate control, we can install a heating and cooling system. Structural thermal breaks in the frame and our double-pane insulated glass help keep your energy costs down. Converting your porch to a year round sunroom gives you a new living space to enjoy every season of the year.

Solarium Enclosure

A solarium is a sunroom addition that is made entirely of glass. This unique type of sunroom is also known as a green house or glass enclosure. Owing to being completely constructed of glass, solariums trap as much light as possible. With ultimate sunlight, a solarium provides the feeling of being outdoors while in the comfort of your own home. Glass walls and a glass roof give you an amazing view of your outdoors. Imagine being inside your home with floor to ceiling views of your outdoors.

Comparing Types Of Porch Enclosures

Screen Rooms - Comparing Enclosures

Converting your existing patio or porch into a screen room is usually the least expensive option. Screen rooms keep insects out while providing you fresh air from the outdoors. Usage of your screen room is dependent upon outside temperatures.

Three Season Sunrooms - Comparing Enclosures

Converting your existing porch or patio into a three season room is our most popular option. Three season rooms offer your protection from outside weather (wind and rain) as well as keeping bugs and pollen out. These spaces stay comfortable spring – fall. Not designed to be heated and cooled on an ongoing basis, three season rooms are typically less used in the winter months and peak hot summer days.

How to Decide Which Porch Enclosure Type Is Right For Your Home

The first step in deciding which porch enclosure type is right for your home is understanding how you and your family plan to use the space. You can eliminate some porch enclosure type options by determining how you plan to use the space and if you chose to use the space only when outside temperatures allow or year round.

When enclosing an existing porch or patio, you may have limitations on the design based on the current structure. Here are some questions to ask yourself as you plan your porch enclosure. If you are unsure of the answer to these questions, our design consultant can walk you through these questions during your free design consultation.

  • When enclosing an existing porch or patio, which elements of the space are important to keep? Which elements are free to go?

  • Are there elements that require removal such as, existing windows, balconies, decks?

  • What does the roof-line of your home and the existing porch or patio look like? Matching the roofline may limit porch enclosure type.

  • Will your porch enclosure require a foundation or is there an existing foundation that can be used?

  • How do you want the porch enclosure to fit into the existing space? Would you prefer the porch enclosure to flow smoothly from the rest of your home or look completely different?

Budgeting For A Porch Enclosure Or Patio Enclosure

Every porch we enclose, whether it is creating a screen room, three season sunroom, year round sunroom, or solarium, is custom designed and custom built. How you plan to use the space, how frequently you want to use the space, and the state of the current porch or patio space, all impacts the type of porch enclosure that is best recommended and the cost for creating the space.
