Awnings are designed with a primary goal as a sun shade, not a rain cover. As such, the awning fabric is designed so you don’t swelter while under it using a fabric that can “breathe.” Our Teflon^® coating helps repel moisture, but it is not waterproof. A light rain is okay – but water should not be allowed to collect in an extended awning. Keeping the awning extended during a heavy rain is not advised. It will cause water to collect in the fabric and could cause damage to the awning or event cause it to collapse.
